Recommendations

For those who have gone before me: Do you have a book, film, YouTube video or other to recommend for me to read or view about Alcohol Addiction or Recovery?

I am adding to my blog page “Library” as I find nuggets of information.

What would you suggest I add? What made an impact on you?

  2. Almost a year in, I am still forever picking up new books! Here are some of the books I’ve read that all have inspired lightbulb moments for me:

This Naked Mind – Annie Grace (if you only read one – make this one it!!!!)
The Easy Way to Stop Drinking – Allan Carr (and this the second if you read two!!)
Alcohol Explained – William Porter (third….)
Alcohol Lied to Me – Craig Beck (fourth…. you get the gist!)
Alcohol: A Love Story – Caroline Knapp
    Dry – Augusten Burroughs
Mrs D – you already have this!
    Recovery – Russell Brand
The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober – Catherine Gray

The first three will (hopefully!) change your thinking around alcohol forever! There are many more but I have placed at the top of this list the ones that really reinforced how I felt and really emphasised how alcohol has no place in my life. I swear, the idea of drinking now isn’t tempting in the slightest!

    • Than you. 😊 Allen Carr’s book was amazing! I do remember that I already read Catherine Gray’s book but that was when I was only half hearted about being sober. Don’t remember it at all. Will read it again with new eyes.
